Farm

Hello

Thanks for popping in.

It's that time of year again!  The pick-your-own fruit and vegetable farm is back open again.  Hooray!

At the moment there's strawberries (of course 😊) rhubarb and broad beans but it won't be long before the farm shop is overflowing with goodness again.

Fortunately, there are at least two more years of picking before the place is ploughed up and turned into some sort of leisure centre. Boo! I imagine the future courts and gyms will be full of ghostly fruit pickers ringing their hands.

Cheerio

  1. It's this time of year when I miss my allotment the most. Thank goodness there are pick your own farms around.

    1. You must do as it's so exciting seeing all the produce growing but there's so much work involved during the rest of the year which you probably don't miss at all!

  2. That's a shame about the future of the farmland where you can PYO fruit and veg! Maybe there are other farms in your area where you can go? We don't have any near where we live I suppose because the hilly land is given over to sheep and other livestock.I'm looking forward to the few strawberries grown at home as they ripen. So far enough for one bowlful.

    1. Delicious! The other farms are probably miles away sadly. The farmer probably wants to retire but what will he do? A garden won't offer a lot of scope!

  3. Oh, what a shame about the future of the farm, it looks a great place to visit and buy fruit and vegetables:)

    1. It's a great shame. Apart from the delicious produce, it's turned into a leisure activity for families to enjoy as they've put in some playground equipment to keep the children happy.

  4. We used to have a very handy PYO about 3 miles away but they sold out to a garden centre and I.haven't found another locally. Such a shame. Enjoy yours while you can. x

    1. It's such a pity. All these lovely open spaces are being swallowed up with more and more building works. x
