Madejski Stadium

Hello

It's nice to have a goal to aim for when you're out walking and a football stadium seems to be the ideal choice! Ha ha!!

I'm not a football fan myself, preferring the tennis but I thought I'd have a look to see what all the fuss is about.

Here's the front entrance which leads you to the offices and conference room reception.

I walked all the way round the outside, there are lots of gates for the fans to enter, visiting teams having their own area. I could just imagine the crowds spilling about on match day and the terrifying noise!

Reading football club - The Royals - has been there for 17 years when they outgrew their old ground.

A sneak peek through an open door!
The North Stand has recently been renamed the Eamonn Dolan stand after the Academy Manager who died in June.  The artwork is made up of 400 small pictures of the 32 footballers who came through the academy system to play in the first team during the 12 years he was Academy Manager.

The Puma symbol is on the stadium as they are the kit manufacturers.
A few facts and figures about the club are displayed inside the conference room reception area.

The Millennium Madejski hotel next to the stadium.

Time to test the coffee
The Ecotricity wind turbine in Green Park across the way has been a very recognisable landmark in Reading since 2005 - here's a link to find out all about it.

If you'd like to find out about Reading Football Club, here's a link to their website.

  1. What a good idea to have the photo of Eamon Dolan made out of photos, looks really good. I'm not a fan of football but have been to various stadiums, Wembley, Old Trafford and Stade de France, all very impressive.
