Thanks for visiting.
I've just finished reading Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey.
The heroine of the book is Maud, an 82 year old with dementia who is trying to unravel the mystery of her missing friend despite all the problems with her unreliable memory. As she struggles with every day life, flashbacks show the reader her life 70 years previously when her sister Sukey disappeared. The two events are cleverly intertwined by the Author.
Many of the situations in the book caused by the dementia and the reactions of Maud and her caring family ring true to me as I have experienced exactly the same in real life.
The book is most enjoyable and heartwarming. It also gives an insight into the difficulties faced by those dealing with dementia, a subject that is very rarely dealt with.
