Art and Gardens

Hello

Thanks for your messages, hope you're enjoying your day. Mr CK was delighted with your interest in his Advent Calendar, yesterday the three Kings on their camels set off on their way and this morning's door revealed our lovely daughter with a Santa hat!

I've had to go to the shops and restock again. A good excuse to have a walk on the way, let's have a look at what's happening at our favourite park.

Dogs were playing

Lovely white trunks

Whooshing up the branches into mulch

Pretty leaves
Inside, some new artworks were on display following their Art Week.

Dangly paper decorations to put us in a Christmassy mood.

The ceramicist Zillah Puri has created a new body of work relating to Rituals and Superstitions.

A display of silk screen printing done on the premises.

Part of Zillah Puri's magpie installation to go with the superstition:

One for sorrow
Two for Joy
Three for a girl
Four for a boy
Five for silver
Six for gold
Seven for a secret never to be told
Eight for a wish
Nine for a kiss
Ten for a bird you must not miss

She actually went up to  thirteen birds with twelve variations of the ceramic one above and the thirteenth all black and scary on it's own. Naturally I've forgotten the rhyme for the last three!!

More pottery as part of Art Week - third prize

A kimono quilt that won first prize during Art Week

It's great to see all the ideas and skill possessed by the talented artists using the Centre. Having watched the semi finals of the Great Pottery Throw Down where the potters had to make a bone china chandelier, I really appreciated the effort and risks involved in producing the exhibition.

Bye for now
