Mosaic Monday Memories

Hello

Many thanks to Judith for the link up, do have a look at all the other Mosaic Monday posts.

My mosaic shows my Mum's garden, a few Autumnal photos and a few from the Spring. It used to be my Dad's pride and joy and he was always out there planting, cutting the lawn, picking all the apples, pears and grapes. One of the apple trees had several different types of apples where he had grafted on branches from other varieties. He looked after the garden birds and bees, feeding them sugary water if they looked worse for wear. He made a house for our tortoise which was so comfy, first a hedgehog moved in and then a swarm of wasps so she had to have a temporary abode till they'd moved out again. He even made a miniature golf course by burying yogurt pots in the grass. Well sadly it will be two years this January since he died.

Mum has done a great job keeping the garden going which she had never had to do before. Mr CK has been up and down with the mower, collecting all the fruit and sorting out the shed. The roses have been wonderful but even so it's just not the same.

Shortly, we will have to say goodbye to the garden as we hand it over to a new family to enjoy as we have done when Mum moves to a smaller place within a retirement village. Luckily we have so many good memories to take with us when she moves.

  1. It's sad to see the family home being sold but lovely to think that a new family will enjoy the garden, and will add to it their own happy childhood memories. I hope they read your post to know all about the love that has gone into creating the garden :)

  5. Lovely memories of your Dad in the garden. Sad to have the family home sold, but hopefully you can stop by for a visit now and again. I'm sure the new family would enjoy hearing about how much your Dad loved the garden. I wish your Mom an easy transition, although I know it must be so difficult to say goodbye to the home they loved together. My Dad has been gone a little over 2 years, too. You just never stop missing them, but the memories are sweet. xo

  6. Your dad was quite the gardener and steward of nature. How exciting that he grafted several varieties of apples on to one tree.
I'm glad you have good memories and photos of your parent's garden and I wish your mother well in her new home.

    1. Thanks very much, I hope she's happy there. The apple tree looked great with all the different apples on. He was always taking cuttings too. :-)
