Winkworth Arboretum in the Autumn

Hello

Thanks for all the messages, I do reply to them but I'm not sure if you get the replies, hope so!

Winkworth Arboretum is a feast for the eyes in Autumn.  We visited in April, here's my post full of bluebells, but at the moment all the Autumn colours are just wonderful.

How glorious!

Winkworth has been managed by the National Trust for the last 60 years and has over 1,000 different shrubs and trees.  Dr Wilfred Fox bought the land from the Canadian born actress Beatrice Lillie, who was cast as Mrs Meers in the 1967 film of Thoroughly Modern Millie and married to Sir Robert Peel, and despite Dr Fox being a specialist in dermatology and working in several London hospitals, he had a passion for trees and created this Arboretum for us to enjoy today.

Bye for now.
