Flower Show

Hello

When our children were small we belonged to the local Horticultural Society and they looked forward with ant.......i.....ci......pa.......tion to the three Flower Shows each year when they could let their crafty and baking imaginations go wild and enter the children's competitions.

Now they are all grown up and miles away and the Flower Shows have slipped into the mists of time. Until, that is, today. A yellow notice on a lamp post enticed me in, melting away the years.

There were all sorts of categories - flowers, vegetables, cakes, jam, applique, sewing, photography as well as the children's. Here's a small selection.

I think they could do with a few more children to take part, but it was ever thus as ours used to compete with each other and their friends but it only added to the excitement of dashing in as soon as the doors opened for the public viewing to see if they had won first prize!

Happy days!

  1. We always entered these shows as children with miniature gardens I seem to remember! It was always a struggle the night before trying to get everything done! Great memories! xx

  3. These flower shows have real charm - I love the pretty, simple flowers and home-grown vegetables. The creative entries are great too, and my own children used to take part too. Love those colourful carrots!
