British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Cycle Ride

Number one son took part in the BHF London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday which gave us the perfect opportunity to spend the weekend in Brighton to cheer on the participants.  It's all done for a great cause to raise money for research, education and equipment for heart patients.  22,000 cyclists started off in Clapham, London following the 54 mile route to Brighton. They ranged from keen club cyclists to fancy dress types, even Pippa Middleton, sister of Kate, and her brother James were there.

Stacks of medals awaiting everyone's arrival

Lots of volunteer marshals along the way

There's Pippa Middleton - the one with the bike - surrounded by photographers, I didn't realise it was her at the time

Phew!

The road was full of people watching trying to spot their riders but they all look much the same in their Lycra outfits, helmets and sunglasses.

Four and a half hours after leaving London, a 40th anniversary medal was placed round a slightly achey but not at all tired looking son. A proud Mum and Dad beamed with pride. Time for a slap up lunch before the cycle back!

Actually, he got the bus!

Cheerio!
