Ascot Ladies Day

A beautiful sunny day was the setting for Ascot Ladies Day today.  All the horses and their riders were on good form. The crowd looked stunning in their smart clothes and extravagant hats. Champagne was flowing, bets placed. All that was needed was the Queen and the Royal party to arrive.

The horses were in their blocks . . . and they were off!

We had a first class view on the TV as we sat in the garden, all us ladies with our hats on.  Who needs all the traffic and congestion at Ascot!

Our delightful hostess had prepared a sumptuous feast, the conversation sparkled and our feet didn't ache at all! No staggering round the racecourse in high-heeled shoes for us.

Horses names were pulled randomly out of a hat for each race for a couple of pounds at a time. Some were winners others not but everyone was happy and enjoyed cheering their horse on.  Some winnings were donated to charity.

A wonderful afternoon!

I'm taking the photos in a feathery hat - or has a blackbird landed on my head?!!

Thanks for visiting.

  1. What a fabulous idea!!! A great way to spend time with your girlfriends and enjoy the races too, and no queues either! xx

  2. Amy has stolen my thunder - I was going to say the same thing! It looks great fun. x
