Thomas Heatherwick

Thomas Heatherwick is an English designer and the founder of London-based design practice Heatherwick Studio.

I first heard about his work in 2005 when we went up to London to see his Rolling Bridge at the Grand Union Canal, Paddington.  The photos show it closing.









So after that, I started looking out for his work and eventually bought his book -Making.

Here are his air vents located in Paternoster Square by St Paul's Cathedral.





He designed this for the Science Museum to show lots of different types of materials










People could try out his chairs at the V&A and see the exhibition.





He designed the Olympic cauldron for London 2012, which can now be seen at the Museum of London.

and a lot of larger projects that I haven't seen  -   yet!

In a couple of years' time a Garden Bridge may be built over the Thames in London, a project done in conjunction with Joanna Lumley. Have a look here
